Priyam is a designer and founder of Name Place Animal Thing, a design studio that specialises in Furniture, Lights & Décor.


Priyam loves to explore materials and infuses quirkiness & joy into the world of design. His passion lies in creating designs which are playful and intriguing - Products which spark joy through design!

He has a career spanning over 12 years across diverse disciplines like furniture design, light design, spatial design and ecommerce. Priyam has an impressive track record of developing over thousand SKUs while working at different organisations and over hundred unique pieces since founding Name Place Animal Thing three years ago. He was awarded the prestigious EDIDA India award as a Young talent in 2023 for his Quarry Collection of Lamps & in 2018 for his bedroom collection design by Elle Decor.

Priyam has studied production engineering from Mumbai University & has pursued a specialisation in lifestyle product design from National Institute of Design (NID). With a solid foundation in both manufacturing and small-scale artisanal techniques, he possesses the unique ability to create bespoke statement pieces alongside affordable, batch-produced designs.

Moose Multifunctional Cabinet by Priyam Doshi The Moose Cabinet is a handcrafted statement piece inspired by a Moose and is designed to be a Fun-ctional piece (Fun and Functional). The intriguing feature is the plug and play accessories. Antlers for your keys hats scarves, bowls for your accessories, open and closed shelves for what you want to display and store; mirrors to check your smile. It has push to open shutters, Moose's eye acts as a knob for the shutter and has beautiful green stained internals which astonishes everyone as no one expects it.

Mushroom Floor Lamps by Priyam Doshi Deeply Reminiscent of the beauty of nature, this mushroom lamp, made of fabric and metal, brings a soft, magical charm to any room. More than just sources of light, mushroom lamps are works of design and art, inviting admiration for their unique design and meticulous construction. The mushroom lamps are constructed using powder coated metal and fabric. The mushroom lamps are intricately crafted and hand stitched by skilled women artisans, showcasing their dedication to perfection and attention to detail. The use of dual coloured fabric is a nice touch and adds more character to the pieces.

Caterpillar Bar Unit by Priyam Doshi The caterpillar stands innocently in the room until you give it a spin to reveal its mischievous charm. It acts as a sculptural piece with a hidden bar. What’s your hidden treasure? The Caterpillar is meticulously handcrafted using white ash wood and is finished with an Italian water based matte coating that highlights its curves and quirky presence. The legs of the caterpillar act as knobs, which are used to revolve the bar. The bar segments are precisely engineered for flawless turning when given a spin. The caterpillar has provisions to stock 30 to 40 bottles, wine, and other glasses.
